Bug in echo/fdcom command?

Louis Santillan
echo (or fdcom) seems to indiscriminately introduce a space character
into its output if there is a  "." character in the parameter.
Example:

set WATTCP.CFG=C:\FDOS
echo "%WATTCP.CFG%"
"C:\FDOS "

Has anybody else seen this?

PLEASE IGNORE.

Badly written autoexec.bat file.  2nd time today I was defeated by
unprintable characters in ASCII.   ARGH!
